Interactive Television: Bingo's New Frontier
It's not enough that bingo has taken the Internet by storm; now it's set to take on TV. Traditional media and new technology have converged to create a potent gaming product that lets players physically interact with live television, bringing the excitement of the bingo hall directly into the home. And Parlay Entertainment is making it happen.
Parlay is currently involved in two initiatives that put a new spin on bingo. In Canada, Parlay has partnered with Game TV to launch ‘Bingo and a Movie', an interactive television event that lets viewers play bingo on real cards while watching classic movies.
How it Works:
Players register for free at iGameTV.com where they can download and print their cards. Every Friday night, bingo numbers are called live on-air during breaks in the televised movie. The printed game cards and sequence of winning numbers are generated by Parlay's proven bingo engine.
In the UK, NetPlayTV produces BigBoxBingo which has been airing weekly on Sky since July. Hosted by Greg Scott of QuizMania fame, the quick-moving bingo game looks and feels like a TV game show complete with glittering sets, perky models and upbeat music.
The interactive bingo show has quickly become popular, and Parlay is currently working on a multi-phase plan to further develop the BigBoxBingo concept, complete with an online bingo website and mobile phone integration.
How it Works:
Six games of traditional bingo run every Tuesday
evening at 6:30pm on Sky 847; or players can watch live on BigBoxBingo.com. Players can buy and print £1.50 bingo cards from BigBoxBingo.com or they can order cards through the post.
